Environmental Rights on the Ballot: What to Know About New York’s Proposed Constitutional Amendment
On November 2, New York State voters will decide whether to add the following sentence to the New York Constitution’s Bill of Rights: “Environmental rights. Each person shall have a right to clean air and water, and a healthful environment.” This panel discusses the history of this amendment and its legal and policy implications. Panelists will compare the text with other states’ constitutions and discuss pending legislation that may complement the amendment. Join us for an hour to get ready to vote on November 2!
